TomasVAh, ok, so very bottom of outsole is rubber; then jute midsole, then leather on the insole--so my feet are standing on leather everywhere, never on jute? And then the upper is cotton canvas, except for a band across the inside of the upper, which is leather as well?
FatestormThat is exactly correct! Viscata makes other models where the insole itself is made out of jute (which is super comfty as well), but the Barcelona is constructed as you described.
FatestormI've read that jute doesn't really hold up well so it might be good that these are not jute on the outsole.
Does anyone have any experience with this particular espradrille and how they hold up? I hear the cheaper espradrilles are really only good for one season.
ChurchillWThese days you'll be hard-pressed to find espadrilles with a jute outsole. Most have some sort of either crepe/foam composite/rubber sole to make them more durable (and city appropriate, really).
I've worn cheap and mid-range espadrilles growing up and I can tell you these feel substantial from the get-go --- from the leather lining on the inside to the stitching on the upper these are definitely not your average Toms.
