The flagship model from Italian pen maker Visconti, the Homo Sapiens Bronze Age Oversize is a collector’s item with a commanding presence. It’s handmade with hardened basaltic lava from Sicily’s Mount Etna: the tallest active volcano in Europe Read More
Well, been staring at this thing for a week, every day, multiple times a day. I am hoping this is the last pen I have to order, because after this I probably won't be allowed to order any more fountain pens for 5 years. I could not resist the material it's made out of, and the built in piston. I do not like converters, and have big hands. This seemed like it was perfect to be my forever pen. I really hope it is.
SpecTPSo I am so excited about this I am going to fill it as soon as I get it. What exactly should I watch for with the nib? I have mainly worked with quills before, and feel like I am still a little new to fountain pens. I got a Pelican M200, and it has been working great. I guess I like we nibs, because the M200 I got is listed as a reputational wet nib. I have had very very few dry starts with it, generally it inks on the first strike, and I get no dry strokes with it, even writing fairly quickly. I am expecting this one to perform equally well, with a much nicer hand feel for me.
I've had my Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age oversized lava fountain pen a few years now. I like it and am perhaps lucky to have a nice EF nib. But lately ink has started leaking out at the finger-edge front end of the section-- ink gets on my fingers at that front end of the section. Since I don't own Visconti's special tool to unscrew the plastic nib-feed housing unit, I, now and then, used my fingers to carefully unscrew that housing so I could use for cleaning purposes a blunt-tipped syringe to shoot water into the ink reservoir. I don't know if not having and using the special tool led to this leaking problem which isn't a major leak just an annoyance. In looking at the lower end of the plastic feed-nib housing, I see what seems to be a tiny O-ring. Would smearing some silicone grease somewhere on that plastic feed-nib housing end this minimal leaking?
Hi there!
I guess you'll have to copy & paste directly into a browser. I couldn't manage to get to the item page by clicking it, either.
Sorry about that though.
I have this in a medium nib. It is wonderful. Has a moderate amount of flex and has beautiful line variation. The line size is fine to medium in my opinion. I was afraid that M would be too big. It is not. I am glad I did not get a Fine nib
I have this fountain pen, with EF nib and I enjoy both pen and nib. While I've read that the palladium nib is 2 tone, my nib looks only 1 tone. Did Visconti use two different palladium nibs with this pen, some with 2 tone some with single tone?
