Got mine yesterday, no issues whatsoever with shipping times or delays. No issues installing them either although some of the caps do fit quite snuggly and felt a little risky in regards to the keystems snapping or the switch being crushed. Either way, they're on now and I love them.
Anyway, these caps are amazing. I've never bought a set of keycaps before so this is my first experience, and it's a very good one. The feel of PBT is so much nicer than the printed ABS that came on my K70. The texture that everyone talks about is certainly noticeable but in a good way. It's like a very soft, fine sandpaper made out of plastic. It's not gritty but you can see the texture. Look at some of the other pictures here and look at the surface of the caps. Whatever you're imagining they feel like is what they feel like.
The thickness of the caps is also incredibly nice. I never thought about it before but the sound of my backspace and spacebar was almost 'tin-y' with the thin caps before but now my MX Reds, at least on stabilized keys, sound more akin to a thunk than a tink. Normal alphanumeric keys also sound better, a lot higher quality sounding.
The only minor issue (And I do seriously mean minor) is that most of the caps have little nubs of plastic left over from the injection molding process. The plastic is a bit thinner in these nubs and the two seem to be mixed a bit allowing more light than through the normal walls of the caps. That said, they are on the top portion of them and I only noticed when I somehow messed up the arrow key placements and swapped up and down arrows. Had I not done that I never would have noticed, you can't see the light from any reasonable angle.
Before you scroll down to look at the pictures I'll attach, let me say this: If you got so far as to click on the discussion page of this drop you should just hit "Join Drop" if you can. These were worth every penny of the $28.99 and the (surprisingly expensive) +$7.75 for shipping. Enjoy the pictures.
(Underside of the Numpad + key. Considerably thicker and much prettier.)
(Nubs with flash on, what it looks like with more ambient lighting or when the backlight is off.)
(Nubs with flash off, small amounts of light come through even with the LED placed right next to them.)
(Straight on. Notice how the right side symbols are cluttered, makes it hard to be precise if you do coding, formatting, or spreadsheeting. The ;: and the '" keys were and still are extremely confusing to look at at a glance, just a jumble of dots.)
(Arrow key section. Looks amazing against the brushed aluminum.)
Excellent photo shoots. However I am confused, in the pictures on the description page this set appears to have the standard bottom row only, and not the keys necessary for the Corsair K70. Can you clear this up?
PS the word you're looking for is "tinny" :)
Thank you! I was worried the lighting would be off since my setup is very, very dim but I think they came out OK.
As for the compatibility: The drop I participated in touted compatibility with tons of keyboards. I was shipped the bottom row keys to fit in every conceivable board and a few extra keys for media functions/macros. That said, looking at the drop page it does appear to say in the bottom that it includes compatibility keys . My drop said so in the description as an extra bullet point as well as at the bottom.
I got the keys, the drop says it has the keys, so I think it's safe to assume you'll be shipped all the keys you'll need :)
Glad to hear. I am looking forward to getting these for either my unlit daily driver with outemu blue switches or my corsair k70 lux with mx browns and red LEDs.
I'm really happy that keycap manufacturers are starting to realize that they need to have caps for all kinds of keyboards, especially with the increasing amount of variety that seems to be growing literally every month.
I picked up a K65 RGB in favor of my K70 because I needed the extra flick room that my numpad took up, I'll post pictures of the caps on the new board with new lighting :)
Nice, looking forward to those pics :) I ended up getting these caps as well, but I got them directly from the manufacturers website, ordered white, but got black by mistake :P But I like the black color, so I think I'm just gonna keep em. After all, it's the same price. Besides that, I'm very happy with these caps. They don't really help me type any faster, but they certainly feel nice to the touch and the bottom-out is very satisfying sounding.
