Based in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies, Warbonnet Outdoors makes hammocks for people who love spending time outside—whether it’s months in the backcountry or an afternoon nap in your backyard. The Blackbird XLC is a roomy, gathered-end hammock made from 1.7-ounce 70d nylon in an olive-green color that blends in nicely with natural surroundings. Featuring a DWR finish and a weight capacity of 400 pounds, the double-layer fabric is great for anyone using a sleeping pad; just place the pad between the two layers to keep it from sliding around. This hammock offers plenty of room for asymmetrical or diagonal lay, and its storage shelf gives you a place to store your glasses, a water bottle, or a pair of shoes.
Note: This drop is for the double-layer Blackbird XLC with preinstalled webbing/buckle suspension. At checkout, you can add a pair of carabiners (+ $7.50). A winter top cover is not available.
Quick to set up and tear down, the Blackbird XLC has one continuous zipper that runs the perimeter of the body, and the zippered top can be removed to convert the hammock into a simple Traveler style. Two elastic lines, one on each side of the hammock, can be used to pull the netting out and away from your body and to support the shelf. You can remove these cords or leave them unstaked whenever you’d like, as they’re not required to use the hammock. The footbox allows you to fully extend the fabric in the foot area without restriction from the netting, resulting in maximum leg room. Finally, the hammock can be set up on the ground as a bug bivy if needed. If you do so, be sure to use a ground cloth to protect the bottom from water and abrasion.
Please note that is up to the user to know and use the appropriate hanging system that best preserves the health of the trees, each and every time.
