BigKelEDCNope. I've ordered dozens with no issues. Mind you, CBSA appears to be running its own country, so it can't be guaranteed. But no issues as of yet.
At first glance I thought, nice little key chain knife (saw the keychain in the slides) then I scrolled down and realized the key chain was $30 extra . Without the key chain you have at best middling Aus8 blade , locking directly on titanium ( Maybe ok, or Sharpie time), a clip for pocket carry (if you've ever clipped a knife this small in your pocket ,it's going to fall out every time you pull your hand out , or the clip will snap ). The only plus for me here is the company seems willing to communicate . I am not familiar with this company beyond this piece here , and wish them no ill but, selling a knife best suited for a keychain , making said keychain and almost doubling the cost , maybe it's just me.
PNWNativeI'd say for it's size, it works well when you have the blade deployed. Never felt like the knife would slip from my grip, but you're not going to be using it for tough tasks anyway. Even the Kizer Crocotool is bigger than this.
Hey guys, I noticed a few comments below regarding the quality of the Micro blade. I wanted to address your concerns and let you know we have greatly improved on the design since the launch back in 2017. This is Version 2. We perfected our manufacturing processes and improved on the overall design. Adding a ceramic bearing and improving on the action the knife, it now lives up to the quality and functionality we always aimed for. Our hardware has been replaced with a higher grade to ensure longevity and a sturdy product over time. We have worked hard to create a standard of products that live up to their design and we are happy to stand behind our quality.
WESNSo if someone owns the V1 knife, can they get it exchanged for far superior and properly built V2?
Not that I own the V1, but you definitely make it seem like the V1 was 'Alpha' release in terms of the numerous improvements and changes.
SaskAudioGuyThe V1 was crowdfunded which means you only get the 'alpha'. This is the first time I've seen them on Drop as well. I'm glad WESN is in the comments section taking what we're saying into consideration as well as discussing them continuously improving their designs, you can tell which companies care by their engagement with the "plebs" on here.
I have one, really can't say I recommend it. Fit and finish are pretty mediocre. It's hard to get the blade tight enough to not wobble but loose enough to deploy easily. All in all it's a pretty forgettable knife.
Don't make the s35VN limited, that should be standard. Aus8 is well and truly a sub par steel these days. Not that a knife this tiny is going to get long term day to day use but its so small, its the kind of knife that'll probably hardly ever get maintained, so that higher end blade steel will really help.
djprNot assuming at all that the Aus8 used here is ideally treated but the Al Mar company has and still does—through design and treatment—make their Aus8 'shine'.
It's a small blade with a real limit as to how much force can be applied and how much work can be comfortably accomplished. Suitably and attentively treated Aus8 or 440C will work well. This is not a Rockstead, neither is mirror-polished, convexed ZDP-189 nor Cowry-X required.
