I'm trying to search for reviews as well. I was a huge fan of the Westone 3 till my wire shorted on me. Now i'm using the westone w30 with olive tips (which I think is the best combo so far).
Really eager to see if this is even better than the w30. IMO i rather have the Westone 3 than w30 just for that little extra bass.

aznne0If you can read Japanese then you'll get a bunch of reviews about the original Japanese Westone 30s but these seem to have a bass bump so add that to the mix. I can't find reviews that I can actually read, lol

zakalweYeah this is super difficult to decide... Are there any general westone signature's that may not be for some people? How is the soundstage generally speaking...

StephenFrom what I gather. The W30s have some of the best bass response for a BA and great sounding male vocals, with a sparkly-ish top end. My thoughts are a V shape but with nice retention of mid clarity. Westones are quality in my experience. What I'm intrigued about is that this might have some punch to them but you can't expect the world from BA drivers. I keep telling myself this but I still look for the perfect BA for my music tastes. I generally end up EQing the crap out of what I have and dealing with the consequences. I may just start walking around downtown with planar cans on my head. At least I get what I want sound-wise lol.

StephenSorry you deal with that bro. I think regardless of what else is available these are a safe bet. I can't find a bad review on W30s (which looks like the closest thing) and I know Westone are the schnizzle for iems. I may hop on this drop soon.

I'm sorry, I probably should know what those initials stand for, but my age-addled brain apparently can't make the leap :/

zakalweBy the way, from my reading of the paragraph, the Japanese version always had a bass bump, so if we can find reviews for the japanese version we'd be more golden, though I could only find a couple and badly translated via google.

StephenCool man. These are getting more interesting then. Let me know if you find anything and I will dig too. The reason I like bass humps in BA IEMs is because you can eq it down a bit if it's a bit OP. If anything it sits in the mix better that way. However, you can't eq-up weak bass IEMs without it sounding like garbage. At least in my experience.
And you are right. I think I was reading it as if these were re-tuned Japanese but it is explaining that the Japanese are re-tuned for +bass. Time for a nap I think!

StephenYou are correct. The Japanese version did have a warmer sound and these are the same as that version. Google translate is not all that helpful though. I can say that I was in Japan when these launched and the feedback was great. They felt that the warmer tone did a great job balancing the mids and the highs.

aznne0You are correct. These are closer to the Westone 3 that the W30. Westone's audio engineer described it to me as a low end between a W30 and UM30 while maintaining the mids and highs of a W30. You will get that extra bass from these compared to a W30.
