Every manufacturer and their dog is making their own keycap profile nowadays, it's getting ridiculous.
Also, these keycaps are not grey-brown, so not actually Dolch.
sevenseacatWould you like to buy my new format? It's only $150!
The price is high because no one has ever been able to work with plastic before us. There's a reason all the bottles in your house are made of glass! /s
sevenseacatRidiculous means it's ALL Good.
Doesn't hurt anyone when the marketplace has more choice in Key-caps and even I purchased a set to try out. PBT is always welcomed here besides constantly being hit with ABS from GMK.
If GMK released an all PBT key-set that was double injected, my 'wallet' would moisten uncontrollably for that reason alone ; )
Yeah on a second look there could be two layers of plastic like how SA caps look on the inside. Very hard to tell from the one pic they provided though.
neonaYes. It was first seen on the XDC Lava Orange on drop recently, which is now available on kprepublic. They renamed the profile name to OSA from the looks of it.
I also received sets with mangled stems.
If anyone is reading this and has the same issue, please know that MD offered me a replacement set, which should be shipping in 3-4 months or a return/refund. No partial refund was offered, as another user reported.
Apparently they're not reaching out to people to inform them of the replacements, so you'll have to contact Support yourself.
I literally just got my set. That the hell is this? Looks like every single set is this way too?! How is this even acceptable? Why would these leave the factory like this?
I was pretty much told it is what it is.
"Thanks for reaching out. This is Cheyenne with Drop Community Support. I'm truly sorry your WINMIX OSA Dolch PBT Keycap Set arrived in that fashion, and I'd be happy to assist you with this!
We only order the exact quantities needed for each run, which means there is no extra inventory available to send as a replacement. Our business model is based on group purchases, so we do not have the ability to procure individual replacements from the vendor at this time. I do have alternative options to offer you.
1. I can send you a prepaid return label and issue a full refund once the our warehouse has accounted for the merchandise.
2. I can issue a $20 partial refund and you keep the Keycap Set as is."
Pingswell... thats better than nothing i guess. if theyre as bad as some of the ones i see (where the D in the legend looks like a B, and blurred to the point you cant read them)... you can at least get your money back.
still waiting on mine. really hope i dont have to deal with this.
I donno if font size increase manufacturing cost. If you compare this to for example dev/tty or beamspring, the font size just look less harmonious. Further from the golden ratio. This is the problem I have with some Chinese product. More attention to details will be appreciated.
obermanI didn't mention anything about cost increase, but I agree with your sentiments about product quality. I suppose this is how they cut down the pricing to what it is.
well... i was hoping to dodge the issues. had kinda hoped this was isolated.... it isnt. mine are complete unusable garbage. literally... some of them fall around on the stem and wobble like crazy. they are completely screwed up.
i have 2 sets here... about 75% of the caps are like this. its beyond incomprehensible that nobody bothered to check the quality on these before shipping them out. (or worse, did they check, and just decide to screw people over?)

hopefully the manuf can chime in on a quick question that occured to me today. because this is a relatively new profile, i dont know how these are shaped.... i know them are oem height versions of SA... but what size is the surface area of a 1u cap? is it still the standard .500x.500 thats common on SA, or is it slightly wider because of the height change? any dimensions would be greatly appreciated.
