Decent sound but you need other amps to get something from this.
I couldn't quite motivate a four star, so a measly three then, but that is actually what you hear and what you pay for it. So, this is a beatiful AMP, has a decent DAC unit with a rather poor connection choices, but given it's size - it has the important ones. The tubes don't really add that tube warmth to the headphones. You have to get others and try out or go to the die-hard tube forums to find others to share their experience.
For me, it was an OK unit, but in the end - it didn't compete with my Pioneer U05, which has a lot more options and while not tube amp - had more oomph and also sounded a bit more apt in some sections. The unit is not bad, it is not cheap looking and there is no real rebranding which makes the Firefly look awesome on your desk, but there is a brick to hide away which is the power unit, the cables are really long and stiff and hard to hide away. It costs a lot - there are now adays so many options that will surpass this unit for less money. Sure, few looks as good as this and if you really want tubes and know you want to dive into tubes - then sure, this might very well be the one you are looking for.
