MakauuThe LOXJIE as I am careful not to contradict myself, is a sweet sounding SS Tube Amp that works as described. I love the P20.
hypnoticdcimeDo you run the stock tubes with it?

trollchu_teh_manslayerYes. For now. This is one of my many Amps that really requires no actual fine tuning. It's a balanced, dual tube, solid state amp with XLR output. I am still, still in wonder as to how they put so much goodness in a 5 x 7 sized amp. It's made out of steel. In black It's gorgeous. Let me say this please, I do not think anyone could go wrong with this $99 wonder. Worth every dime. I will definitely change tubes soon because well, tube rollin' is just plain fun, but caution here, tube rollin' can be expensive too. You just can't go wrong here. I suggest you grabbing one while the getting is good, so to speak. Lastly, I will be starting my own YouTube Channel in the very near future. I own around 50 headphones, 40 DAC's and 35 Amps. Some portable, some desktop and some combos. I believe I could be a strong voice in the budget (careful with words here) audiophile world. It's a love and passion that never feels like work. I can go all day and night on a single pair of headphones and DAC/AMP. The title of the channel will be called : "DCIME, a closer look". With everything audio plus a tiny bit of video. So please look out for the channel via web searches on YouTube. I will also keep you posted as to when it rolls out. BTW, your screen name has the word "trollchu" I hope you are asking a genuine question here. With Many Thanks, DC
hypnoticdcimeI was planning on buying one last week, but I bought an HD700 and I still had bills due, so I told myself to wait a week, but I'm very interested in the stock tubes. As far as Chinese tubes go, the internet seems to parrot, "eww, go Russian," but with the consistency in that, and the similar results you'll find, I've yet to find a good solution for learning and understanding tube rolling and variances in tubes. Basically, with everyone saying the same thing, there's nothing to be learned from parroted discussions if I don't know anything at all, and I'm 1000% sure there's more variety to tubes than "Chinese? Eww, go vintage Russian!" Like this, anyone who wants to learn tubes is forced to take a stab in the dark as opposed to an educated guess. I want to be able to make educated guesses on the tubes I'll pick, with that, I'll have to learn some Chinese tubes first.

trollchu_teh_manslayerExactly! Well said! BTW, I find tubes from the good old US of A sound amazing too. Take RCA from the 50's - 70's. Made in the USA, new old stock can be quite delicious. My Darkvoice Tube Amp has demonstrated this. Great reply again as its wonderful to hear back from someone that just "gets it"!

trollchu_teh_manslayerIndeed you have an excellent point! I’ve had the same problem and sorta gave up! But I can confirm that there are bad Tubes of unknown origin (likely China)! I bought a cheap kit online using the same 6j1 tubes! They were unmarked and poorly made! Replacing them with a high quality tube made a huge difference! so I can at least confirm that there are bad tubes out there! But your comment made me think there may be quality Chinese tubes out there! The ones I got before had no markings but the ones in the photos of this amp do have clearly Chinese markings and look well made! Anyways you’ve got me very curious! I appreciate you putting the idea out there!

MakauuThough I noted comments on the Loxjie, I haven't seen any direct comparisons. So here's mine. I've had the Loxjie P20 for about a year. I've tube rolled between the stock, GE JAN's and settled on a pair of Voshkods as my favorite. I have an FX Audio pre-amp, that really didn't add any tube character with 6J1 tubes. I bought this XDUOO MT-602 hoping to add the flexibility of a more powerful headphone amp. That was a big success for me. I first bought the Loxjie because I was enamored by balanced connections. The Loxjie is a nice amp, but never blew me away. If I had it to do over, I'd just buy the XDUOO MT-602. Clearer sound for me, more power, and a preamp option that actually makes a subtle tube difference. I spent the last couple of weeks running comparisons by connecting both to my Sabaj D5 - and running them at the same time. The Loxjie connected by XLR and the XDUOO by RCA. The only other potential unfairness is I'm powering the XDUOO with a linear power supply, and the Loxjie with a battery. I'm just going to compare the headphone out of the XDUOO and the XLR out of the Loxjie - since the single ended port of the P20 is just weak. Power - The XDUOO provides much more power. At work - I'd max out the P20 using sensitive IEM's and my IFI IEMATCH set to ultra. I repeated that test with my modded Monoprice M1060C's and using the IEMATCH on Ultra. Maxing out the P20 - I could hear comfortably, but that's it. On the XDUOO by comparison, I was at 3 o'clock, where I could listen at borderline painful volume. There was still substantial headroom. Sound - The XDUOO was much clearer than the P20 through the mids and highs, though the bass was very similar. I'm using Mullards in the XDUOO - which are supposed to be a warm tube, but the treble is more extended on the XDUOO. That may be a negative for some. Soundstage is very similar. But the resolution and speed on my M1060C's sounds like a big improvement. I'm picking up microdetail I didn't expect out of these headphones. I suspect that though they're easy to drive, they enjoy the extra power. Preamp - Don't buy this amp JUST as a preamp. The difference is very subtle, but it's there. I installed a switch in my system so I could go straight from the DAC, or through the XDUOO immediately - in the middle of the song. Don't expect a lot of tubey goodness, but there is a general warmth and fullness improvement. With my old FX Audio preamp (just a tube buffer really) I sensed practically zero difference. I don't think I need to pursue tube character further. I've been using this as a preamp for my Electrostatic headphones, fed by a Stax SRM 717. Overall - I'm happy with this purchase.
