I tried many of the different suggestions for getting it to work, then I read one where he said he got it to work without installing anything. so I uninstalled all the drivers and thingys related to it, and restarted. IT works without a problem. ( it may vary please don't take as a sure fix.)
I have window 10, when I brought it I had windows 7 and it worked but then windows updated and it would only work sometimes.(to be clear this was before I uninstalled anything related to ta-01.
Please pardon my bad writing, I hope this helped someone.
Has anyone asked xDuoo if a 12ax7 tube can be used with this amp and if there are any hazards, expected sound problems? I've found a Genalex Gold Lion 12ax7 locally at a good price but I'm still not sure if I should take the risks. I've read that "upgrading" a 12au7 (mid gain) circuit to a 12ax7 tube (high gain) can cause circuit overdrive and god knows what else can happen.
Please advise if you have such experience. Thank you!
My TA-01 made it to Europe the other day and I already modded it with a Socket Saver Tester + Black Tube Guard. It took some unexpected drilling of larger holes for the tube guard bolts but the result is eye candy.
I'm still waiting on my new headphones to arrive but this thing sounds fabulously warm and tight even with a JJ Electronic standard 12au7 tube. I got rid of the Chinese stock tube on my 2nd listen. Let's see how it sounds after burn-in on my forthcoming Beyerdynamic DT 880 250 ohm.
PS: it was 100% plug'n'play with Windows 10, zero drivers required. They didn't work anyway.
Hi yea unzip it and install he xmos driver then follow the document xduoo sent me and apply the firmware. This was annoying me for a long time and I must have sent them about 5 email support requests, They might have worked on it after I emailed them as this updated version (non wolfson) needed the updated firmware.
A quick comment about the TA-01. I purchased one a some time ago and subsequently posted some pics, in this forum, which show the pair of CS-4398 chips inside. I sold that unit and quickly regretted it. So, I've since re-purchased an identical unit.
My primary headphones often get heavy after long sessions so I like to wear the K7XX for casual listening of news-clips, youtube, etc. I keep the very light K7XX's plugged into the TA-01 for an outstanding setup I can wear and enjoy for hours. I plan on keeping the TA-01 to compare against other dac/amp combos I buy & sell.
My overall impression from the TA-01 is indistinguishable, to my tinny ears, from the Fiio E17K/K5 combo and even the Fiio X5iii/K5 combo.
The presence & punch of my Mojo/CTH combo is in a different league than the TA-01 but so is the cost.
The TA-01 is easily worth the $119 you can get it for in this drop or elsewhere.
