I didn't get this off mass drop, amazon for retail price actually. But I must say, it is a fantastic DAC. The stock opamp is definitely an upgrade from my pc's on board sound card, but I figured I would take it one step further. I upgraded the stock opamp to a burson v5i and it really made a difference. The bass is tighter, there is more detail, and the soundstage seems to be a bit bigger as well. This paired with my fidelio X2's is an awesome experience. If you are buying this DAC at a discount, I would definitely recommend upgrading to the burson v5i.
I upgraded and couldn't really notice a difference. Another xduoo is coming soon and i will be able to do a proper a/b for the stock opamp and the non stock.
After listening to the burson v5i and getting used to them, they seem to be more smooth in frequency gradients, the audio is more clear and concise, and the soundstage with instrumental organization is better as well.
I mean, it really depends on the headphones being used. On my fidelio x2's the difference is small, but after prolonged listening the change seems more obvious. On my LZ-A4's the difference between both opamps is easy to define right off the bat.
Be sure to comment if you can tell the difference when you get your XDuoo!
