Quick update - for everyone who's experienced issues with the XD-05 in USB mode - driver load failures, distortion, and cellular interference like DetonNation's having - many of them are caused by the crappy USB A male - female cable included in the factory packaging Monoprice sells a short (1.5 foot, 46cm) version of this cable for 3 USD (Monoprice #13749) - it fits snugly without any slop , cured all my USB errors, and eliminated RF hash coming from a nearby WiFi router - it's a surprisingly cheap and effective fix. For International buyers, the same cable is sold by Amazon - search for 130713 cable - which is otherwise stupidly difficult to find.... Cheers Jim

mvsantoriniYes, my phone randomly disconnects, get static, and I'm using a different cable than the stock one provided. Any insight as to why this might be happening besides shoddy wire?

j0hnnyIMHO - these sorts of problems almost always trace back to a connection fault. If your new cable fits the Xduoo well, then suspect the phone's micro USB connector - this design is a mechanical shitstorm with an undersized center conductor surrounded by an easily deformable metal shell that's just not going to stand up to an angry monkey jamming a cable in bass-acwards... There are tweaks to restore the connection - search for 'micro USB fixes' & there are some good videos. Or, bite the bullet and buy a phone with a USB-C or Lightning connector, both of which are mechanically far superior to Micro USB-A. Jim

mvsantoriniWhat's weird is I do have a USB C phone and cable, and I found the only way to fix it is to turn off the xduoo OR change the input using the toggle switch back and forth. So I'm having the connectivity issues even with USB C, anyone else? Using a One plus 3t

j0hnnyYeah, this is odd - but it still sounds like the XMOS chip is getting overwhelmed by noise or excessive dropouts so that its ECC fails, looses tracking, and then needs a reset. If you're using a USB C to USB A Female cable, then you've got a good mechanical connection and decent grounding throughout. The OnePlus One 3t uses USB 2.0 over a C connector, so it shouldn't have any compatibility issues with the XMOS chip - although I've found that the XMOS seems happiest if you restrict your digital gain to less than 50% scale, and set the listening level with the Xduoo's analog pot. Otherwise, you're in for an RF noise hunt - start by stripping back the phone's RF signature - NFC =OFF, Bluetooth=OFF, WiFi=OFF, and Airplane mode=ON should be a good starting point. If this cures the problem, then slowly re-enable services in reverse order - if disabling Airplane Mode brings back the farts, then suspect that one or more of your carrier's bands are interfering and try to work around by disabling individual access points until you run out of access or the problem goes away. This is a slow, painful, hair-tearing debug process - but unless you know someone with an RF sniffer and a spectrum analyser I really don't know a better way... OTOH - someone posted a Bluetooth 5.0/APT-X adapter that plugs directly into the XD-05 - it seems to well thought out and may solve many problems fairly cheaply - I found one link here: https://penonaudio.com/xduoo-xd-05bl.html Jim

mvsantorinisome really sound advice, thanks mv. forgot to mention, while I do get static (which could be from the other radio services interfering), I am having issues where the audio just cuts out. The only fix is to reset the XD05. not sure if it's a firmware thing or not

buchieNo worries. I meant just turn it on/off again, not an actual button sequence to fix it. Don't listen to me, not a repair guy, but if you're experiencing static you can try using a different wire. if you still hear it, try using another usb device. if you still hear it, it's your actual dac/amp causing the issue. if that's the case, you can probably open it up and spray some deoxit or equivalent. basic IT troubleshooting method. hope that helps bud
