Nice try. I appreciate that this was effectively a product launch. So, i took my chances and rolled the die. I dont think the manufacturer had ill intent, but j€s×s f×ck!ng chr!st, this thing is a piece of sh!t. The bamboo is warped and split, two screws are stripped before I even tried to tighten it up, and the keys that fell out (20ish of them on a full sized keyboard) can't re-seat because the bamboo frame is warped, split, and the underlying board isn't seating them right. Add to that some stuck keys, twisted keys, yeah. It's in the trash now. Again, I understand that this was a risky buy, but what a colossal fail for $150. If I wanted to build a keyboard that looked as though it was assembled by a mentally retarded drunk monkey with parkinsons, could have purchased a kit and built it myself.

lyamlyam, I'm sorry you're having so many issues with your board. Your example is an extreme outlier in terms of quality control - much worse than any prototype I've seen. If this had been one of my boards I would be on the phone with manufacturing in five minutes.
I'd like to better understand what went wrong here. Please, if you can, take the board out of the trash, get some photos and contact Massdrop support as soon as you are able. Please copy-paste this thread for better processing.

lyamlyam, I’m shocked that your board is in such poor condition. This is highly surprising, it is certainly an outlier. What you report is much worse than any prototype board I received, or any sample or production board I’ve encountered. If this were a board I received myself I would be on the phone with manufacturing in about five minutes.
I’d like to better understand the issue. May I ask you to take the board out of the trash, get some photos, and open a ticket with Massdrop support? When you do, please include our thread here on the forums. We can’t work toward a solution without a better understanding of the issue.

XMITSorry for the grumpy tirade - crappy work week, excited to play with the keyboard, and the relatively long sequence of relatively minor individual quality control failures just put me over the edge. I'll see if I can edit/delete my comment and give you direct feedback offline in a more usable way. Again, I'm positive that you were acting in good faith, but the delaminated bamboo , loose screws +stripped screws meant that the keyboard had too much flex and twist, so the keys would not stay "clipped" to the underlying board. Push one in, the pressure twisted or flexed the board so adjacent or near adjacent keys popped out. Lube may have fixed the stuck keys, don't know because I didn't get that far in fault checking.. Askew keys similar to what has already been reported - stens were un likely to have been twisted themselves (I think) so they just couldn't seat squarely, or the organic nature in bamboo meant that the cutouts were not still "true" after expansion/contraction from ambient humidity/temperature When I plugged it in and the usb cable felt insecure, and the keystrokes were (don't know the right term - stuttering? Triggering phantom additional keystokes?) , that was the final straw. So smash, trash.

lyamNo, you're good, leave the feedback if you want. Quality control issues are frustrating for all involved!
It sounds like your poor board hit every QC issue that’s come up, in their worst form, all together. I wonder if there is one person on the factory floor who is doing a worse job with assembly than the others. I bet, too, that they hand picked the nicest boards for my personal shipment. I’ve got a bamboo 104 sitting here and, I tell you, it’s perfect.
The chattering would be a separate issue. Some users have been hit by solder reflow issues. Again, this board should have never left manufacturing as is.
I assume that "smash, trash" means you took a sledgehammer to the board. That's unfortunate, I'm not sure we can RMA a board that is broken in two. But if you can please do RMA it and I'll have a close look. Even if you can't RMA it, I'd rather it end up in my hands than in the trash one way or another. E-mail support@xmitkeyboards.com or PM me on any of the forums if you want to chat offline. Cheers!
