Okay, I've noticed that a lot of you guys are posting up the 770C links. The 770C can be had for under 100. Even Penonaudio carry them for 110. As for quality, I disagree with limbu's remark simply because MSRP on this player is 175.00. That is plenty and is comparable to the Fiio X3 and possibly the iBasso DX50. Both of which are better made than the Xuelin 770. Sure the IHIFI 770 can be had for less money, but I think it's because of how obscure the 770 is and its build quality. It's not badly made necessarily. They're well made when they are. But are rather fragile and QC could be better. I've had to replace mine twice already. First one had minor cosmetic blemishes which was unacceptable for a brand new device. I dropped it once and bam, the LCD lighting got messed up and now I see dark streaks on the side of the screen due to uneven lighting. I sent it in for warranty but was sent a replacement unit with the exact same issue on the other wide of the screen. What luck.
It's a great player otherwise. You get used to the UI and the device does what it's supposed to. I don't have any real issues and the form factor is impressive. I'd still rate it highly despite my opinion in regards to quality. Sound is great. In fact, its more tonally balanced than the Fiio E17. But Xuelin can take a leaf from Fiio's book when it comes to build quality.
As for battery life, most dedicated DAPs that feature quality OP Amps, LPF and etc, will use more power. The 13 hour rated battery life is pretty much on par with most other players of this caliber. Don't bother comparing it to iPods and Cowons (I have both) that have simpler circuitry. These players are proper devices that can drive full-size cans and then some. I've compared the Xuelin to few other players, including the DX90 which I own. The Xuelin doesn't compare to the DX90, but on price, it's definitely a great bang for the buck player. iPods, even when amplified lack the overall texture and detail of the Xuelin. Also lacks power in both ends of the frequency spectrum. iPods Video (with LOD out and amp) sounds more laid back. Also, they're rated at 25 hours playing normal mp3 files. Shove in lossless ALAC files in there and play it through a LOD-powered amplifier and the battery life will plummet to less than 12 hours.
Again, point is that 13 hours is decent for a player of this type. You won't find much better for under 400 USD. Most proper DAC/AMP-DAP will use up a lot of juice.
