I’m thinking of joining this drop but I wanted to make sure it will work with my speakers first. I have a set of Kanto YU6’s and plan on buying the matching Sub8. Does anyone know if they would be compatible with this receiver, specifically in Atmos mode?

The YU6's only accept inputs via RCA connections and optical in. This yamaha receiver only has outputs with wire connections. While speaker wire to RCA connectors exist, I wouldn't risk connecting them since the two devices are powered. So my thinking is that they're not compatible, but someone else might want to give their feedback as well.

Thank you very much for your time and feedback! I guess I’ll pass for now and keep my fingers crossed that I can find a way to get Atmos working with these speakers. :)

If you only want two channels and are more concerned with audio quality look for a second-hand NAD receiver on eBay. NAD equipment is pretty pricey new but older two channel models go for decent discounts.

Good suggestion. Checked out the NAD C 368 it's definitely a contender! Thanks.

Pretty sure they'd make a point of saying that, because if not, everyone IN THE STATES that bought one, would return it!

7.2 is a generic term. This receiver is Atmos and DTS-X enabled. 7.2 means I has 7 channels (powered) & 2 sub pre-outs. For this it's receiver 7.2 = 5.2.2 in Dolby numbering format. x.x.2 mean means 2 channels either height, ceiling, or Atmos Enabled up firing speakers.

It will do 7.1 surround or 5.1.2 Atmos. The rear surrounds can be assigned to be Atmos instead.
