I got it today for some reason I can't get audio from my Samsung UN65KS800D TV. I called Samsung and they checked my settings on my TV, they said it looked correct. The TV sees the receiver, and I can adjust the volume from it. I'm trying to use ARC, but even the optical doesn't work.

How about something like this in silver? We've had too much drab black the last 30 years!

Do I need a monitor/display to configure this if I don't have a TV or sustainable WiFI/internet connection?

Darnit. This was $319 on woot Friday. Didn't pull the trigger then, but this may have the advantage of 1-year Yamaha warranty.

What is the difference between the 5830. I just bought that in last drop and thought I was buying this. :(

If you look at the pic of the back panel, you can see the phono input. This means that it has a built in preamp (if that's what you mean by 'powered'.

FWIW, I don't own this receiver but I've been eyeing it because it is, by far, the most affordable 4K HDR-capable receiver on the market that has preamp outputs for external amplification. I think you'd need to pay 2x as much or more for any other receiver with that capability.

Same reason I picked one up during the Newegg flash sale. I'm using it to power a 3.1 Elac Uni-Fi setup without any regrets. Pick one up!

That's good to know because I did end up joining the drop. Seems like this could be one of the last chances to easily get one of these since it was never sold new except at Costco and is now discontinued.

The Costco TSR-7810 is simply a Yamaha RX-V781 that has been renamed for Costco to avoid price-matching situations with other retailers. New units are selling for around US$567 on Amazon at the moment.

I bought my TSR-7810 from Costco a few years ago, and it's been great. Though it seems like Costco is no longer stocking Yamaha AV receivers (or any AV receivers for that matter). At least, none are listed on their site currently.
If Yamaha updates their receivers for AirPlay 2, I'll probably buy another one for my living room (current one is the basement). If not, I'll likely look to a Denon.
