I have a receiver that has single RCA outs for subs and I'm wondering what would be the best way to connect this sub to this particular receiver?

So basically you connect it to the white for LFE, and the red RCA for music. Or you can get a two rca to 1 rca adapter and use that.

If I only connect the left XLR input, would this still work? Or does it need both?
And does it go into Auto standby, or do i have to manually power it off after each use?

lukits01You will want both as the low frequency signals from your sources are dispersed to both the right and left channels in your avr. You may miss some sound from one channel.

Exactly my point, I hate it when mfgrs fudge their FR specs to inflate their abilities. $400ish can get you a 12" Basix or even an SVS that will actually approach those numbers. Yamaha makes great stuff, but let's get real.

Chris24You're absolutely right, there are quite a few choices but keep in mind that if you stay balanced, this sub makes it easier by having the satellite connections, things you can't get with standard subs. You could save some more buying say a Monoprice pro sub which also has the balanced satellite connections but I would trust Yamaha more.
