Just bought studio monitors. These are nice, I'd have considered it. A few questions: Is it really that difficult to get your / you're straight? These comments.. ugh and.. These are nice monitors, the normal price is $349, (just look on Amazon). That's $349 EACH - 8" speaker active monitor, you'll need two. That makes this deal extra good, you're saving progressively more as the mass amasses. Heck, even one person is going to benefit, (because, again, you need 2) so, person whining, stop. These are big and loud, the smaller ones in this series.. well, they're smaller, for smaller spaces. An 8" speaker makes a big huge sound. Not toys, these. Sky is the limit with speakers. These are good entry-level studio reference monitors. Top rated, in fact. These are the bigger ones in this line - there exist smaller sizes. Studio gear is like audiophile gear, the highest end is VERY HIGH, (tens of) thousands of dollars. However: two different classes of products, designed for entirely different listeners. You might be better served with a small surround system if they're going on a desk alongside a computer, for casual listening, or really any listening that's unrelated to audio production. Then again, whoever posted this may be doing studio work, all the comments here are people who already own them. No matter where you're putting them, definitely consider using base pads beneath them, as whatever object it's on or near is going to resonate. The room, placement of the speakers in it, these are extremely important factors that color the sound. Reference = pure sound, uncolored. Play a low-quality recording on these, it'll sound awful. Not the case with speakers made for casual listening, in that realm, the factors of variables are accounted for in the design process, the goal being to make the sound as pleasant as possible.
