I have another question, from the picture it looks like the ear pad is designed to be thin at the top and thick at the bottom, is that right?

As oppose to normally thin at the front and thick at back of the head.

The inner diameter of the ear pad is oval (not round),so not normally thin at the front and thick at back of the head.
We suggest best thin at the top and thick at the bottom. However it can also be thick at the top and thin at the bottom, considering individual differences like head shape and wearing glasses.
