The cable is very thin and there is no strain relief where they connect to the earpieces. Do not ever yank the cable. On another note, I find it almost impossible to mount the foam "earpads", but they are necessary for a near-hi-fi response. Without the foam pads, the sound is tinnier than a $5 pocket radio speaker.

With my pair (I have the cheapest, Pk1 or Pk3, can't remember) I've found that mounting the foam pads is easier if you attempt to "roll" the pad onto the earpiece. (Similar to putting a condom on... I know that's a **ridiculous** analogy but it's the quickest way to explain it.)

you can't do that with the ones that have a hole in them

that's not true, they don't sound that cheap without the foams and you have to roll the foams onto the earbuds to get em on. The ones that have the holes in em, are a bit more complicated but it's not impossible. I pinch the extremities and push the earbuds in.

Maybe without the foams, they don't sound 'cheap', but they have no bass and very shrill treble (without the foams), so whatever....

It's a bit tricky, but you totally can. I have the ones with the holes on my pair right now, and that's how I did it. Stick with it and you'll get it.
