http://twit.tv/show/home-theater-geeks/139
42:00 (LOL 1:05:55 about specs)

Basically if you have a high resolution file (redbook, lossless, etc) with a high dynamic range, that will be affected by the sounds that are produced by the power supply, however minimal it is. The power's noise level is higher than the quietest signal: Masking Effect.
Conditioning the power will lower the noise level. He also said the cheapy big box store surge protectors did not help with that at all but I dont think what is cheap or not.

Isn't a UPS just a backup battery? Not sure if that and a power conditioner, what the P18, is.

I'm nooby so dont rage me if I am wrong.
