View Full Discussion Damn, I'm feeling kinda shafted here. I ordered this on Feb 12 from zealpc.net and paid $145 with shipping just to get it maybe 30-45 days prior to this drop. Not so sure that difference was so worth it. Of course I'm basing the time frame on the fact that you all will actually have your PCB's sent out on July 31st. lol.
So my next question to the group is this...
All my kb's have plates. Should I finally build one without a plate with this PCB or is a plate just too important for stability? I've actually never even typed on a kb without a plate so I have nothing to compare the experience to. Kinda wondering if one of these clear acrylic top plates would look cool?
This website also just got their brass 60% top plates back in stock. Something I've been wanting to get for some time now. Any input would be greatly appreciated on the top plate or no top plate issue. Thanks! =)
you dont need a plate, but it helps with not getting your pcb dusty, because dust is very annoying to clean off of pcb, what I would do If I got this pcb is get a acrylic plate to show off the awesome pcb and still have the plate
Funny, im in the same bat as you. I ordered a Zeal60 from the site and I too thought I would have had it before R1 of the PCB from here shipped. Well I was wrong,I have my Zeal60 from MassDrop already built up (its my daily at work) but I am still waiting on my PCB from Zeal's site.
I have a KBP pure that is plateless and its a joy to type on, def a different feeling than a steel or aluminum plate. I have found that tactile switches feel the best on a plateless build but thats just me. On my Zeal build I went with a clear acrylic plate from Menkanisk and its awesome, I highly recommend it. I think I will be going plateless on my 2nd Zeal build whenever it ships, lol. Anyhow hope this info helps
edit: here is a pic of my board so you can see what the plate looks like
