Zelos Watches was a hit even before the company released its first timepiece, the Helmsman. That’s because the design of the watch spoke for itself Read More
Nerd question: does anyone plan on using saddle soap or mink oil to condition the leather strap? Is there something else I could use that is outstanding for leather?
Is it worth addressing a tiny nick in the bezel? It's hard to capture it in a picture with my 15 mp phone camera but it's definitely noticeable in person. And it doesn't help that I'm kinda OCD about perfection...but I think $300 is enough to expect no quality issues like this. Or is it? It Kinda bums me out thinking about showing off my brand new watch that already has a nick in the brushed metal on the front.
if it not too much I think many trick to buff it out can find in internet. I have several watch have small nick too but some really fine sand paper can help. It's a good thing that this one have brushed finish. Good luck
Erebos33Thank you. But I'm not sure buffing/polishing will get this out. Seems much deeper than a regular scratch. Almost as if the corner of a razorblade dug into it
Got today. Box looked a little messed up in shipment and smells musty like it had been in rain. Has a watermark in the box and the musky scent combined with leather is a bit overwhelming, but is dissipating. Overall love the watch for the price point! The leather roll and tool and extra straps are nice perks, but I honestly will never use the extra straps. I am actually getting a custom one made for it using it's buckle, which is the coolest thing on it IMO. However, I do see myself using the leather watch roll a lot.
The watch itself is fantastic. The green is a forest green and is fantastic. I don't have a green faced dial so this is awesome. The stock strap is super stiff. One of the reasons why I am getting a custom one done, other than the band being a bit big for my small wrists even at the last hole. I am glad that I can use the nato strap from cincystrap co! :) Love the style this creates. It's definitely a keeper in my collection of micros!
I got my gray Helmsman on 2-15. I had my heart set on the green faced watch. However, I couldn't be more happy with the unique, attractive gray face. It's a BEAUTIFUL watch. The wooden box containing the leather roll that held the watch tool, watch, and spare bands were all a very nice touch that I really enjoy, and really nice perks for getting the watch.
I think the watch is of outstanding quality, and all things considered, was well worth the price on MD. The lume in the watch is very nice, even when compared to my Rolex Milgauss(bottom in the pic...sorry, I know it may be hard to see), and that is a much more expensive watch. I haven't compared the duration of the lume between the two. That's not a huge concern of mine with either watch, as I don't plan on using them as "tacticool" watches.
kevinhThere's a bunch of youtubes that show this, here is an example
Basically you use the tool provided to do it. Relatively straight forward. Good luck and post pics when done!
