How "zen" of them to use this rare-earth element, mined at enormous cost to the environment in Brazil and China, and turn it into an expensive toy for tech bros. Oh yeah, and it is toxic to the touch and lethal for infants, so "zen" I want to barf.

MishaXIf you have any, I'd love some information on the toxicity, maybe some studies or something.

MarodirNo problem, just look up neodymium toxicity, see lung and liver issues, use goggles and wash hands thoroughly before touching your eyes after handling. Great stuff for electronic devices, a toy not so great.

MishaXyou realize all neodymium magnets are very thickly plated or dipped right? if I'm not mistaken it's usually nickel. that's why with the magnets start to break there's a nickel peel that comes off and the color change is pretty stark.

MishaXhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neodymium#Precautions "Neodymium compounds, as with all rare-earth metals, are of low to moderate toxicity; however, its toxicity has not been thoroughly investigated."

foxyfritzAgain the self-centered view, they are coated so we don’t have to be concerned about the lungs of the miners who extract the rare earth element of the destruction of the environment. Just give me my toys to distract me from tedium. Please get some perspective.
