An effective year-round shelter, the Zerogram Inyo Tipi tent is easy to set up and spacious enough for two campers. The outside is made of 20d silnylon that has a water-resistant PU coating, while the inner tent is made from 20d monofilament mesh fabric Read More
Save weight with just a tarp. If bugs are a problem go with a Six Moons Lunar Solo. I had a tipi tent one time. It's a condensation machiine and if you don't close the door rain gets inside the tent with you. All of the doors opening from the top to the bottom is leaning inward., it's not a straight up & down 90 degree opening. If the door is close then the condensation drips on you.
From the mfr website:
Capacity Shelter mode: 4 Person / Inner tent: 2 Person
Trail weight Shelter mode (Tipi skin): 26.4 oz/ Tent mode(Tipi skin + Inner tent): 2.7 lb
ZEROGRAM seems to be saying it's a 4 person shelter with a 2 person inner, and the fly-only setup is 26.4 oz.
Photo 4 shows a pretty obvious and common problem; the inner tent is just way too short. Throw in a thick sleeping pad and your face is practically in the mesh.
I don't see the resemblance. The El Chalten inner tent shape is more dome than a pyramid, the bathtub floor comes higher and the doors also have a very different shape and placement.
jari.perhoI looked at some of the dimensions, the Dome's dimensions don't seem to be consistent with the Tipi's inner, so I think you're right. To me it was looking like there were some unused side tie-outs on the Tipi and the floor was sagging because of a loose pitch.
This tent looks really cool. It looks like the guys face is right on the mesh in the pictures, so that’s a bit of a warning sign. Also in one pic the floor seems to extend beyond the inner mesh tent but in others it appears it does not. So I have questions. Seems like a good design, almost semi freestanding.
