I got this as a gift for my brother in law, and he loves it. He often works outdoors in the night, and this helps keep his hands warm when he needs a little break.
I liked it so much I bought it again. The only downside is you need to be using them for the entire duration and you can't just use it for a short walk after dinner or whatever. On the other hand, iron oxide packs are great for short trips and fall off on all day stuff which is where these really come in handy.
These are great, but I don't really use them as much as I thought.
When they are actually needed, I find I would usually rather go indoors and warm up.
I live at high altitude and have taken these snow showing. Works great. Generally safe and usable by kids as well when they are working. Hot but not crazy hot.
I was very happy with these hand warmers. Living in canada get's pretty chilly in the winter so these things came in handy quite often. The only complaints I have about them are the smell and not being able to turn them off so to speak. I realize these are more limitations of the design and fuel than anything else. Definitely would recommend.
