And $23.99 + $6.79 = $30.78 I can walk into a local brick and mortar store and buy these mini-size 6-hour warmers for straight up $14.99 each (plus tax, just verified this past week). Some drops are winners, other ones are of the "why bother" variety.

I don't feel it is particularly the responsibility of consumers to make excuses for sellers, but this is the very same product that I link to at Farm and Fleet. The listed specs are hilariously large, as in I would guess somebody just measured the master case of 12 items and published them. They do list the manufacturer's model number (40321) which is a cross-reference to Zippo mini sized hand warmer with a maximum fuel capacity of 6 hours. That is where I get "6-hour model" in my earlier post because that makes it clear that it is not the full-size model which holds a maximum of 12 hours of fuel (and I bought one of those at the store). Zippo only makes the 2 versions.
So as I said, I won't make excuses for a seller, but I will point out a seller (or reseller in this case) is charging a price that is either the same or even higher than what should be the highest price anywhere, at a brick-n-mortor store. I won't just trust we are getting a good price here without researching in the future. Isn't the whole idea of Massdrop is to save money in the first place by buying at a larger bulk rate?

BF_HammerAnd you never should. Like I stated in my previous comment, massdrop would need to guarantee a very large order to shave off the price per unit. This can be solved by massdrop at least negotiating and adding more levels to reach so that it's more appealing for people to atleast commit
