JosmosTo buy this quality of wire, we have to buy more of it than we can use in a 5 year period, added to the fact it's very expensive and proprietary as there were R/D costs as well in designing the wire. Plus everything is hand braided, soldered and QC'd in the USA by our trained staff. Then we have to make a few bucks to keep our business running. =)

ZMFheadphoneshello zmf headphones. thanks for replying. I mean is this cable compatible with my CustomArt Massdrop Exclusive - Ei.XX CIEM? I believe this cable is meant for headphones but would like to know if it works for my CIEM.

shaun300809I don't believe we have connectors for any iems right now. We don't have the 2 pin connector the massdrop Custom Art iem uses for this drop. Sorry about that and we will definitely consider it in future drops.

JosmosWhy are they so expensive? Truthfully? Because in today's world, we have come to accept the idea that accessories are sold at some of the highest return rates across all industries. Years ago I owned a cellular phone distribution business. Name brand accessories you'd buy from Verizon for between $15 and $35... I used to buy in bulk for between $0.XX and $2.XX. This is no exaggeration. I am not saying that the audio business is identical to the cellular phone business or making any generalizations. My point is that while I do believe that ZMFHeadphones puts a lot of time, money and R/D into their cables... I also believe that if they had a large enough customer base (I do not have any idea how large it is as it stands), they could be successful selling these cables at a price point somewhere around half or 2/3 of what they are right now (possibly less, possibly more). However, value is held in higher regard than simply what it costs to create a product. A company's reputation for resolving customer complaints. Their track record creating quality products. The level of quality of the product in the first place. The durability of the product against the durability of similar products on the market. And so on. Lots of things go into pricing a product. Ultimately one thing never fails to be: At the end of the day, the customer base decides the price a company can sell a product at. If customers will not buy said product at said price, said product is not worth said price. In conclusion, if the price point is bringing in sales, they are so expensive because they are worth it in some shape, form, or fashion to their customer base. Edit: Disclaimer - I did not write this reply to talk down on ZMFheadphones. I support all indy/non-public businesses. I wrote this reply to simply answer the question from the viewpoint of a long time business owner, product creator, and service provider.
