Hey Zach Did you find that foam mods etc were necessary to maintain the original signature of the thx00's with Ori pads? Given that the stock pads have a very specific backing ring and ear cutout.

The ori pads sound very very close, just make sure to use the ring.

Sorry to break in, by which ring did you mean? The infamous sound-tweaking "plate" ring that are sewed into the stock pads? (which The_Medusan was referring to I believe)

The ring is just inserted in the pad flap on the foster headphones (thxx) etc - just remove it and insert it I to our pads before use.

Yeah I just wanted to know if I have to butcher the stock pads to make these sound good. Thankfully the answer appears to be "no".

Not sure @ZMFheadphones really got which ring we were talking about. I am buying these pads regardless as my problematic unsymmetrical skull can't stand any pads that are angled but not memory foam. Just wish to make clear what the official was suggesting.
For reference, we mean the plastic "plate" that's under the man's finger: (2nd picture) http://www.head-fi.org/t/788776/fostex-x-massdrop-th-x00-review/8745#post_12901812 The plate is a whole surface rather than a hollow ring that has a cutout the same shape with stock pad: http://www.head-fi.org/t/788776/fostex-x-massdrop-th-x00-review/9720#post_13235903 The plate is the secret to the stock sound signature, Dekoni is custom making them for a best-effort towards the stock signature with their custom pads for TH-X00. (pictured is Dekoni's custom made one) The plate is fixed into the stock pads and cannot be removed without destroying stock pads.
