Limiting it to 25?! Ffs, show a little respect to your customers and figure out a better way to run this drop than to limit it to the people who incidentally happened to open their emails first. Maybe give advance notice and a drop open time so we can all at least try to click on buy?! Or better yet, sell more than 25?

They don't owe anyone anything. Zmf is known for their exceptional customer service and I'm most appreciative that they even ran a massdrop sale. I'd rather they run a super limited sale and keep their customer service and craftsmanship up rather than mass produce and take away from the service they're known for. And FYI, they did give advance notice on head fi, which carried over to Reddit.

Massdrop does owe its customers better service than this.. Sending us an email with an exciting offering that is gone before most people have even opened it is bad customer service IMHO. And for ZMF, if they truely care about customer service as you claim, then I would think they would want a more fair method of selling this limited production too. This method of selling alienates more customers than it gains.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but if you feel that keeping the drop limited on a custom, hand tuned product is bad customer service, then you aren't their intended demographic in the first place.

So sorry! We (me) are a very small company with me, a couple part time workers, and a few engineers. I sell limited run units on my site all the time, we have the Omni available in Cocobolo and Bocote and will be offering the same next week for the Blackwood. I simply underestimated the demand for these and will make it right by planning more in the future with increased output capability. I appreciate the interest!

I do appreciate the effort, all I am saying is that it sucks to miss out on something like this because of the fact that this happens to be the day I didn't check my email at 7am. That being said, I will live so no hard feelings. What I would suggest though is that Massdrop give advance notice like they do on some of the other drops (the Valentine's Day AKG drop for example), where they sent the notice of the drop a few days (week?) in advance with the drop open time, so people who really want them can plan to be ready to click at that time.
I also want to clarify that the frustration in my OP was directed at Massdrop, not you :)

Maybe you should do a lottery type thing? Like 200 people order it but 25 get randomly picked to buy it? That makes way more sense then people rushing to buy something online like it's Black Friday.

I think you are missing those point... Keeping it limited is cool by me, in fact I like it. What I don't like is getting notice after the fact. That was Massdrop's fail. This should have been advertised on Massdrop in advance rather than "hey here's that drop you really wanted that you could have participated in if you had opened this email a few hours ago".

Haha all good. I totally understand all of that too. I went to check the drop at 10am CST and it was over. I was like ????!??!?! Didn't even get to get an email out to our mailing list which I feel bad about too. We're going to adjust for next time and work with MassDrop. Really appreciate the thoughts!

I agree with that. Massdrop's emails generally are a bit slow in regards to a product and it's drop time.

It was crazy to see it sell out in less than 3 hours. I never got a MD email announcing the drop either. I was lucky enough to see your post on Head-fi and set an alarm for the usual drop time (6am PST). I was on the fence about ordering these from your website for the last month or so, and my heart dropped when I saw this over on the Hf forum just last night.
