Just a heads up - These are NOT made from stainless steel, and the inside of the mug will rust after only a few months.

This is the second one that I got from Amazon, the first had the same exact issue of rust staining on the inside all the way around. I wash and dry after every use, and yet here we are.

noisyturtleI've never had a rust problem with mine... I've been using it for 3 years. Did they change how they were made? I wash mine with a scrubber every 2 weeks, and just rinse the inside between drinks.

noisyturtleYou got pics? Even if it was plain steel, not sure how you would get rust inside since it’s Teflon coated. Would be curious to see multiple pics to back up such a claim. Of all the reviews I’ve read here, Amazon, and other sight, you’re the first to mention rust on the inside. I believe only “Stainless Steel” is regarded as “food-grade”. So rust would be rare even if there was exposed metal.

noisyturtleWhere is your Teflon coating? I’m beginning to wonder if what you have is a knockoff. 🤔

noisyturtleIf you wash and dry after each use, and they rust after months (seriously?), there might be something wrong with 1) what you're drinking, 2) your tap/cleaning water, or 3) your drying cloth. My wife and I have used these daily for our coffee for over a decade. We wash them weekly, at most, and don't even rinse in between. We've used both country well water and city tap water, both for the coffee and the cleaning, and neither has produced any rusting or decay issues for us. I'd honestly look into whatever you're putting in it. As far as I can see from literally thousands of days of use the product is not the issue.

glennacYou have Teflon coating? My model doesn't any it looks exactly like the one in this drop. The model I have is SM-KHE48-AG: https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SM-KHE48AG-Stainless-Steel-16-Ounce/dp/B005PO9T44
Regardless, no rusting on mine. Worst case was the coffee stains which came out easily with some scrubbing with a brush.

SimielOk, so you, and possibly the OP, have these “SlickSteel” versions. I suppose if you are aggressive about cleaning, or use abrasive methods, you could damage or remove the coating down to the bare metal.
Rust is still suspicious. Stainless Steel, while it can occasionally ‘stain’, shouldn’t experience the prolific rusting that the OP shows.
Below is Amazon’s description of the SlickSteel process. Even so, I much prefer the Teflon coating that mine has.

noisyturtleThis is crazy. I dont know whats going on with yours but mine which i've had for a minimum of 4 years has not rusted. Mine is not teflon coated (it doesnt have that white colored inside) and I have never had a rust concern. I dont know why yours ended up the way it did. I would definately inquire about that since i've never seen anyone make this complaints on all the forums i've seen. The level of rust on your mug is really suspicious and im curious what happened durring production that might have resulted it in being so prone to rusting like this.
Generally speaking though, these mugs are top notch. I wrote up a review of them in one of my previous comments here. They keep your beverage so hot that you cant drink it until your work day is over, and they come appart making cleaning easy. 100% recomended.
