can these be washed in a dishwasher without ruining them?

GiantCalGunnerDon't know for sure, but, just to be safe, my wife and I don't wash ours in the dishwasher. However, washing with a brush, soap, and water has been plenty effective at keeping it clean - clean enough that coffee and tea smells don't stick and affect the taste of water later on.

GiantCalGunnerbetween my wife and I, we have 4 of these, three of the other style with a smaller opening, and one with the larger opening. We wash them in the dishwasher weekly and have for years. The only issue is the paint starts to flake off. My first one i have had for almost 5 years and it started black and is now 85% exposed metal. Other than that, no issues with dishwashing (even though the instructions say not to). These are the best. I have converted multiple coworkers to these. They blow away contigos. I throw mine in a briefcase with important docs and never worry about spilling, even if they get tossed around. Btw, the smaller opening ones are about 15% more thermally efficient in terms of heat retention. The inner vs outer thread design seems to make a noticeable difference.
