Gambit76116Can you give the link? I'm finding them at $30 on Amazon. I haven't heard of this brand, so I was trying to figure out what makes them so much better (read that as EXPENSIVE) over the Contigo brand, that I can find here at WalMart and Sam's Club and Costco (for much cheaper). I've never seen this brand (Zojirushi). Contigo has worked VERY well for me for years... so what is so great about this brand? Curious, because I'm ready to get a couple new travel mugs.

brenda52411Two things... Heat retention and leak-proof design. Also, the Zojirushi are a little slimmer with the same or slightly greater capacity than the Contigo.

brenda52411And as far as the company goes, they were founded in 1918, making glass lined vacuum bottles.

I don't mean to be antagonistic, but the pair of Contigo travel mugs that I bought (actually, think I bought them on QVC, probably nearly 25-30 years ago) actually keep coffee hot for about 5 hours (I'm talking HOT) and still warm after 8 hours. They don't leak AT ALL. I carry them in my purse without a fear. Now, having said that, they DO have to be hand washed. They came with the warning that if they were put in a dish washing machine, they probably would start leaking. I am thinking of replacing them because coffee just doesn't taste good anymore in them, and I'm not sure what to do about that. I hand wash them, but they appear to still be coated with coffee inside, but after reading previous tips on cleaning, I think I will try soaking in baking soda. If that doesn't work, I'll get some denture cleaners. Maybe I'll start a new fad with mint flavored coffee! Actually, if I added some chocolate to the coffee, mint would probably be pretty good.
I don't know if Contigo that you can buy at WalMart / Sam's Club / Costco are the same "quality" as the ones I bought MANY years ago from QVC, but probably so. I'm just amazed at how well they have stood up over the years. Again, I'm not necessarily a Contigo fan, and not trying to cause problems. It's just hard to think of a product that is better than this pair of nearly 30 year old Contigo mugs.

I did not know that. Thank you. Then this company has been around for quite a while and know what they are doing. Thank you.
