Can anyone speak to how these compare to the (amazing) SM-KHE48AG mugs from Zojirushi?

EnekkThis one is a thermos with a separable cup. The one you note is a flip-top carafe; a separate drinking cup/mug is needed. (Yeah, it says you can drink from the carafe, but I'd have lots of doubts about that. :) )
Beyond that...dunno, but other than color options (the KHE has many of those)...probably nothing, functionally.

BallpeinI think he refers to when you're filling your mug with scolding hot water and it gets impossible to drink straight from it without burning yourself.

EnekkSame heat retention performance. I have the SM-KHE48AG and I just bought the SV-GWE50 for my girlfriend. They maintain liquids' heat for equal amounts of time. I actually find the SV-GWE50 more convenient since it comes with a cup in the lid that allows you to cool hot liquid to a drinkable temperature without having to use disposable cups or carry a separate mug around for drinking. Both keep fluids hot for so long that I've found the separate vessel is necessary in order to be able to drink in a timely manner. They have different inner coatings I believe. Or at least this one has the stainless (whatever their trademarked coating is) whereas my SM-KHEA48AG has the grey nonstick. The coatings are basically the same aside from the named differences and the stainless version being clear.
