PSA - Philips SHP-9500 back in stock
The Philips SHP-9500 was a go-to recommendation for best open back headphones under $100 for a long time. I (and many others here) have recommended them frequently on MD. They appeared to be discontinued, with prices shooting up on eBay, bu...

thoughts on gaming vs. normal headphones
Gaming Headphone vs 'Normal' Heaphone comparison is difficult to do since they're made for almost entirely difference purposes. This comparison is furthermore troubled by posting it in an audiophile forum where 'Normal' consumer headphones are mostly never part of the conversation. Massdrop x Fostex TR-X00 Ebony Headphones
Beyerdynamic T1 Gen2 / Philips Fidelio X2/27 The Beyerdynamic T1 has bass but it delivers a reference sound signature that isn’t as exciting to listen to. The Philips Fidelio X2 is better in that regard. It’s made for great listening if you don’t mind looking like Megaman. (Great soundstage too)

New Audiophile. What is the best beginner setup (headphones, dac, amp)?
There are two answers to your question. A: Straight forward, subjective answer / B: Complicated objective answer A: Start with Philips Fidelio X2/27. If you’re just getting into headphone audiophilia, this is the easiest thing in my mind to recommend. It will give you a good baseline reference on what to listen for since it exaggerates everything in a very pleasing way. Soundstage width, 360 location, stereo separation, bass...

Philips Fidelio X2 Replacement Pads
A few months ago I've purchased the X2s here on MD. I do prefer their sound signature over my Beyer DT990s. However, when it comes to comfort the pads of the X2 are just too tight. I've even tried stretching the band to loosen up the headphon...
