1/4” rulers work best with high shank sewing machines. Otherwise you have to make sure there is enough clearance around your needle and foot. Check with something that is 1/4” thick to see if it will slide around. Also, to make sure your sewing machine foot doesn’t slide under or over the ruler and mess up your machine’s timing or worse, get a 1/4” ruler foot. Some of the sewing machine manufacturers are making them for their sewing machines.
