I’m building my classical collection the same way. I haven’t had too much luck at getting them for under $3, but I’m working on the same principle.

AthtelGiven the cost of new vinyl, I'd still feel pretty good about the $3 range. It always depends on the store in my area. The Salvation Army and Goodwill stores here have a flat price, regardless of the album or condition. The Habitat stores price individual albums (but tend to have better condition items). What types of places are you hitting up? I'm always looking for new sources.

GunsOfBrixtonWe have a huge recycled bookstore here in my area and they sell classical records in pretty good the very good condition for $3-$5. I also frequent goodwill and various thrift shops and antique malls (one of my favs just burnt down though...).

GunsOfBrixtonMy prime source for classical LPs is library book sales. I must have purchased a thousand over the years. They usually sell for one or two dollars. I won’t pay more than that unless I know it is a legacy recording and would bring 20 times the cost on line.

AthtelBummer about the fire. I don't have an antique malls near me, but I've been in enough to know that must have been a heck of a fire, and a lot of loss. I'm going to have to check the used book stores near me, wouldn't have even thought of it. Thanks for the idea.

SPQRBrilliant. Hadn't thought about that, although several of the albums I've picked up have library sleeves on them. Should have put two and two together. Thanks for the tip!
