Shine-through MT3 Keycap Set?

more_vert
I'm sorry if this question has been asked but I've searched and couldn't find it. If there is already a thread on this then feel free to hit me over the head with it. Is there any interest in having MT3 keycaps made as a shine through set? The color isn't as important to me since I'm in the camp of having a keyboard for coding/work, not for showing off but I /love/ the MT3 profile coupled with a Boba U4T switch. However, I would also like the LEDs to shine through for clearer layer switching. Is this even possible with MT3? Thoughts?

This would be so sick. I use a ZSA moonlander for the split keyboard ergonomic benefits, and those RGBs are quite pretty. It’d be great to have an MT3 set that doesn’t block the light.

They could create a side print shine through. Most keyboard you would use these on would have south facing rgb anyway.

Yup, another vote here. I don't understand the problem - The stock keycaps have the 2nd ( 1st? ) injection of plastic into the keycap mold transparent plastic, and then the other injection of plastic is the opaque grey stuff. How difficult would it be to switch out the plastic on the machine to the one they're using on the stock caps with one of these mt3 caps? Seems like a completely silly oversight, as they're advertising the RGB features of keyboards with caps you can't even see the RGB with. Personally, I use this in a studio - it's dark! - a lighted keyboard is a big help. And the MT3 profile is my favorite - And I think many other people would like to actually see the RGB through their wonderful mt3 shine-through keycaps that they'll be purchasing from Drop as soon as they're available.

On mt3 Profile (and most SA) the legends are in the center of the keycaps, and with the stems also being in the center, It would be really hard for the light to be visible with the stems in the way. They could make the shine-through part and stem completely transparent (as opposed to translucent) to counteract that issue though

I figured it was a long shot. But I'm happy to put the idea in somebody's head. :)

It is possible, but I don't see it being done for any enthusiast-level marketing barring a serious change in tastes, so it currently isn't taken too seriously. Although Drop does cater to entry/mid-level hobbiests (as much as they try not to act as though), so I suppose that could change with enough support (meaning: profits).
