18 months later... Sounding better with every audition, they age better than wine. Best thing I ever did (audio-wise), so far...

Where you at, man? I hope you're doing good. I'm about to pull the trigger on the Clears. They ship in October. I think they'll be a nice early Christmas present for myself, ha-ha!

Nebur Perhaps a perfect example of jealous trolling? I can't imagine why you would have zero upvotes, poor thing.

I have 789 and want run balanced. The dac I want to pair with is the denafrips aris II but not for $850 so I will wait hopefully it will drop in price when they make a newer model. What I am also hoping for is Drop to bring a r2r balanced/rca dac successor to the Airsit R2R.

Ares 2 I just learned the delay you speak of from darko.audio that describes as "The Denafrips Ares II, although a D/A converter and not a streaming device per se, doesn’t get away gotcha-free. The FPGA-based DSP that handles the unit’s FIFO buffering and (N)OS modes cannot perform its calculations instantaneously. Maths takes time, albeit milliseconds. And like many pairs of active noise-cancelling (ANC) headphones, the Ares II’s DSP-induced time delay is enough to knock lip-sync out of whack when the DAC is tasked with handling the audio portion of a video stream." Thanks for heads up. The 789 works well for me.

allsmilesbYea… I was the first person to point that out. I’m glad a lot more people are onboard with calling out dacs with buffer delay.

A jotunheim! I've considered this when I finally go balanced and the elex or the drop collab is very tempting for me because I want a focal and closer to what i could afford in a sooner time period. I plan to have an exciting summer

Mastaboog749 I waited a little over a year with the little Magni/Modi stack and an HD 6XX while I was researching headphones, balanced amps and DACs. I ended up going for the Clear and then just had to go balanced ;-) I actually wrote a review if you'd like to read it: https://drop.com/talk/43807/focal-clear-review-part-1

I’ve heard Focal headphones are out of this world. Hopefully I can spend that much on a pair one day. I did however finally bite the bullet on a pair of Argon MK3’s. Excited to try those.

I wanted those, but they're more analytical and $100 more. The MKIII have a more "fun" sound. Plus they're cheaper, and I won't need to worry about the wood falling apart.

TheOneRawrI was thinking of T50 Argons from my experience with audio the T60 has the sound profile I would prefer the most. I prefer T60 because it's balanced out of the box and is warm, fun(not as fun T50 but still fun) and detailed.
