Is it possible to use numpad numbers on main keyboard?

more_vert
Hi Guys! I'm getting into the custom keyboard hobby and want to go for my first build. Since I'm from Germany (and definitely want to keep the german key layout), I'm very restricted in my choice of keycaps. There are like 10 okay'ish Keycap sets with German layout (ISO DE/Deutsch/German QWERTZ) but I would really prefer to find a nice set here! Of cause the QWERTY layout is not just different in the position of Y and Z, but also every punctuation mark is also on a different key. I considered to buy a QWERTY layout here and replace the keys of 1,2,3,4...0 with the keys made for the numpad, so there are at least no 'wrong' signs on my number keys. What makes me unsure is, if it would feel OK to do so, because I suggest the normal number keys are 'taller' than the numpad keys. Am I right with my suggestion? Would that be a bad idea to put the numpad keys on my main keyboard? Maybe anyone can help me here :) Thanks in advance! Daniel

They'll physically fit onto the board there - you can put those keys anywhere, technically. But you're right, the heights will be different, and bob up and down depending on the row the number pad keys came from.
