Added an Emotiva BasX A100 to my rig out of curiosity. Pretty impressive. Single word review: effortless. Noticeable increase in soundstage in both HD6xx's as well as the 58s Jubilees. BUT, this amp will absolutely bring out the flaws in source material. Highs can be more sibilant and fatiguing. But how easily these push the 6xx's clearly showcases what I've read that the 6xx's scale with the quality of the amp. For classical the ease with which the Emotiva can drive the 6xx's is wonderful. The dynamics and punch are there when needed and there's no sense of strain whatsoever. Joyous. I've only tried the Emotiva with the jumpers in so I can't speak to how it sounds with the resistors in the signal path. I just trusted the prior reviewers that said that it sounds great with the resistors but amazing with the resistors bypassed.

That said, the other thing that I noticed going back and forth from the Emotiva to the Topping is that the Topping does amazingly well for a $100 amp. It's far more forgiving with rounding sibilant highs without sounding veiled. It has a slightly narrower sound stage but the quality of the sound on the whole is neutral to slightly warm and on point. Personaly I'm not looking for clinical listening, I'm looking for musical listening. The Topping A30 and D30 are really an incredible value in this regard. I highly recommend. I have the Topping DX7s on the way because I wanted to try the 6xx's balanced and I'm starting to wonder if maybe I'm getting to the point of just chasing my tail. We'll see.

Just wanted to share my experience. Hope someone finds it helpful.

A little more observation. I tried my Betron YSM 1000's through the Emotiva. 2 observations: https://www.amazon.com/Betron-Headphones-Definition-Smartphones-Microphone/dp/B00XBZY0EI/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1541959490&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=betron+ysm1000&psc=1 First, the Betron's are pretty great for 13 dollars and they totally scale with the quality of the amp. I bought them to listen to when I travel so I'm not upset when/if I lose them. The pronounced highs of the Emotiva bring the Betron's highs out. Everyone talks about how the Betron's have great sub bass, and it's true they're pretty good for the sub bass but they're very scooped in their presentation. The mids and highs are there but they take such a backseat to the bass that it can be distracting. However what's pretty great about these is that they have a surprisingly wide soundstage for cheap IEM's. I like them. They make for fun listening through my phone which has an average to less than average DAC and amp circuitry. Second, and I imagine that this will be the case of pairing the Emotiva with any high sensitivity, low impedance headphones, you definitely hear the noise floor of the amp. And, perhaps more importantly, by the time you turn up the volume just past the usual channel imbalance that comes with volume pots you have the volume already very high. I may look into getting a little preamp to attenuate the volume knob. Although, the aforementioned noise from the amp may dissuade me from using this with low impedance headphones altogether. The sound is great but the noise can be distracting. Horses for courses. With high impedance, difficult to driver headphones the Emotiva shines.
Emotiva makes good gear, was looking at that amp at one point for planar use. Ended up with a Cayin iHA-6 and couldn't be happier. I do still have three of their amps in my system and their XDA-1 was my first DAC.

Haven't changed the jumper setting on the A100, but definitely improves the Fostex T50RP. Almost have to turn up to the max.

RicardoAzenhaKiller amp. I am using it with Monoprice K-BAS and it really makes them shine. Had them hooked up to an Onkyo receiver and I wasn't that impressed initially. I feel like they were made for this amp. As everyone else has said, the headphone amp alone is worth the price of the unit.

I also have those Elac UB5s but am running them from an Elac integrated amp. The Sprout would probably be better. I am also shopping for a better amp and looking at the Emotiva and some others. Thanks for your observations.

Yes, jumpers removed = win. I also have my A-100 pushing some Axiom M22 bookshelf speakers and it does a great job. That said, I always need to remind myself to turn the volume back down for when I switch back to headphones.

Listening to the Emotiva some more I was playing a song and there was hiss under the recording. For a second I thought I was hearing the noise floor of the amp. I paused the song and silence. I was hearing the noise of the recording not my equipment. Tried again with the Topping and it also resolved this background hiss, however, the hiss was less airy or pronounced. I think this is in keeping with my initial reaction to the Emotiva. Even though the Topping has a ruler flat frequency response, the Emotiva definitely has more clarity or resolution on the whole.
