Homemade Headphone Stand

more_vert
I built a quick solution for storing headphones using an old wal mart floor lamp. Removed the lamp and cord. Cut six 3/4" pvc pipe rings. Drilled a hole in each ring and then screwed in 3" lag bolts to secure the rings against pole. (Tip: pvc is soft so drill holes slightly smaller for nice tight fit.) Slipped foam tubing over each lag bolt as a finished cushion for finally hanging the cans on. It's a 6 can pole for now, but will eventually double up each ring to make the pole a 12 can holder.

Made this using threaded black pipe from Home Depot. Base is stained redwood. Secured to base using brass screws. All found at Home Depot for under $50 total. Extremely sturdy.

This is a nice space saver or way to get them all in one spot for easy retrieval, very nice. Seems there is room for more but it may be top heavy or unstable then.

Good set up you have. Effective. When I saw the cost of stands I quickly determined there has got to be a better, cheaper way. Off to Home Depot! I have a new concept in the works that will end storage problems forever. (Probably for under $25.00.) Yes, this was your basic 15 dollar old cheapo from wal mart. I was gonna toss it, but like I usually do, I salvaged parts for later needs. Aha, in this case a headphone tower. Not including the original lamp price, total cost was about 8 bucks...LOL.

RGT57Very smart, for what I spent on the stands I could have got the Sivgas I have been looking at.
