40 hours into burn in; sound is balanced, detailed and wide presentation, using stock inserts, plenty bass sounds for me. A good blance to my Focals.

How did the Aeon sound with the TA-20? I'm on a Modius/Magnius but have been thinking of adding the 20 for something a bit different. I just ordered the Aeons so looking forward to testing them out!

JasdersI think the TA20 (I believe there is a newer version) is a wonderful amp for the money. I have compared it to my other solid-state amps which cost up to $1,500 and I can barely hear a difference in sound quality. Now, this inexpensive tube amp will not give you that buttery smooth sound you hear from tube amps; you would need an expensive OTL tube amp for that. But the TA-20 ( a hybrid tube amp) is a solid value for listening to any headphone. I have swapped tubes and found a small improvement. I am currently using the Apos Ray 12AU7 tubes.

coreypineThanks for the quick response mate! It's an interesting dilemma for me because I do find the Magnius good and revealing, but it's definitely lacking warmth. I'd read / seen people say that OTL tubes can cause base distortion with planars which was why I had thought this might be a better option. The TA-20 Plus is the updated one but from what I can tell, it doesn't have a DAC the way this does which then lead me to consider the TA-22, but with the original TA-20 being cheaper now I'm tempted to start there. Thanks again for the response mate, really appreciate it and I hope the Aeons are treating you well!
