I can't find it either. I get the same responses from friends on massdrop, but seriously there is not a place to actually buy. Most places throw the cart thing in your face. Massdrop doesn't even have one

How to: Fostex TH-X00 Detachable Cable
In light of the recent release of the Fostex TR-X00 headphones with a factory detachable cable, an update many have requested ever since the first drop, I immediately began to feel buyer's remorse and jealousy. I decided to take it upon myself to update my TH-X00 with detachable cables and bring you along through the process with pictures so that you may be better informed to endeavour if you choose to do the same. Here's the completed assembly of what we'll be doing: [image] PREFACE: It goes without saying that doing this will void any form of warranty on your headphones. Also, you could permanently damage components of the headphones. Continue at your own risk. There are a few things I would like to cover before we go ahead with the step-by-step. Connectors: There are many types of connectors available for this mod. I decided to go with 3.5mm jacks and plugs since these are the most readily available and easy to find parts. Pre-made cables with 3.5mm connectors are also easy...

Brand Spotlight: Massdrop x Sennheiser
[image] We at Massdrop have a special relationship with Sennheiser. They’re a company who believes in delivering the highest quality products to the Audiophile Community, and we’re always listening to the needs and ideas of our members so in this it's a perfect match. Since our first collaboration with Axel Grell and the Sennheiser team, we’ve been able to come up with more ways to bring more products to the community. Starting with the HD 6XX, a Massdrop Made take on the company’s flagship headphones. The PC37X, a headset produced for competitive gaming. And now, the 58X Jubilee. Headphones tuned by Axel, and designed with feedback from the community. Currently, Sennheiser has a team specifically dedicated to our collaborations, and this proves their commitment to always listening and to continue bringing the very best of what they can do to those who are most passionate about it. ‘Dragems “How to Buy: Second-hand Compact Discs”
G’day Drop pundits! I am ‘whitedragem’, an Australian ‘technologist/geek’ who is here to offer some common, and some uncommon knowledge, to help those wanting to build a vast audio library filled with high quality sound files. CDs? Yes CDs => as they will allow ripping onto just about any audio playback device, usually via a computer and specific software; that allows album art/tags, heck even lyrics, to live with your High Def master files. Why CDs? Because they can be bought second hand for less than a dollar, and if the average user spent $10-15 dollars a month (equivalent to a music subscription), with the typical cost of $1-2 netting 10-20 tracks, this would equate to having a large collection of lossless music, in a relatively short amount of time. A collection that can jump ecosystems (say ‘from iTunes’) to any future equipment that a user may consider, whilst also giving file freedoms, like ‘mixing’ into iMovie.. This header is a placeholder. The article will form over...

Is Bluetooth as Good as a Wired Connection?
Back when I visited CanJam NYC in 2016, I got to talking to the two founding members of Bluewave, and had an extended conversation and demo of their soon-to-release Bluetooth receiver/DAC/Amp, the GET. They argued that the quality of Bluetooth has reached a point where the internal components used had a bigger impact on the final sound quality than the fact that it was wireless, and their device would have better sound quality than the headphone jack in my smartphone. I thought this was an interesting challenge, and I had to research and rethink my perspective on Bluetooth audio. You see, Bluetooth is a digital transmission, so it bypasses capacitance and EMI factors of headphone cables. Then, the Bluetooth receiver must then use a DSP (like a computer) to decode and decompress the transmission, a Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) and an Amplifier before outputting to the headphone transducer (speaker). When you buy a Bluetooth receiver, you’re also buying a DAC and an amp! With a...

How to find the best seat in any movie theater.
[image] Picture this: You’re going on a date and they choose the scary movie that just came out and looks super terrifying in the trailers. You’re not a huge fan of horror flicks, and you’re afraid you will jump out of your seat an embarrassing number of times… But you like them a lot, so scary movie it is. You get to the theatre, late, but in the knick of time right after the previews and before the film begins. You scramble up the steps and settle into your seat in the back row near the corner, trying to figure out how to look brave and hide your sheer terror. The movie starts… A few minutes in, you realize you don’t feel scared at all. The audio seems abnormally quiet and the screen looks pretty small and dull. You and your date are yawning throughout the entire movie, and, to your surprise, you haven’t jumped in fear even once. When it ends, you both are pretty disappointed at how un-scary the movie turned out to be and decide it was just “meh.” Why did that happen? Well, it’s...

Looking for headphones along my AKG K712 Pro
Hello, this is my first post, having some trouble figuring out the how the board works but nvm that. Anyway, I'm a musician (also have my small home studio) and a gamer, my current headphones are the AKG K712 Pro and I use Focusrite Clarett 4pre USB Audio interface. The AKG are great headphones, huge soundstage, very neutral, but sometimes the soundstage sound way too big, and sometimes the fact that they are neutral kinda ruins because they are very surgical towards everything I listen to. And sometimes a bit uncomfortable... I had a chance to listen to Sennheiser Game One headphones I liked how much more fun they were listening to music, I knew it wasn't the most precise recreation of the music but the smoothness was very pleasant to the ears, with one downside that the treble was cut bit too much for my taste. I also had the chance to record and listen with the Audio Technica M50X, which were great for studio uses and music, and also were quite fun. Anyway, cut the introduction...

Question for 58X owners..
Do any of y'all go ahead and buy the 6XX after buying the 58X just because you're interested in the differences in the sound? I just bought the 58X but after reading reviews on both, I find myself longing to hear the 6XX as well. Thoughts? Cheers!

Overwhelmed With Finding a Set of Headphones
Hello, I am somewhat new to the world of audio, but have always cared about having good sounding music and media. I am looking for a set of open back headphones primarily for gaming (first person shooters) but also want to be able to listen to music. I listen to a lot of styles from metal to jazz; so I’m looking for a well rounded sound. I don’t listen to hip-hip or electronic music much, so bass isn’t a huge concern for me. I have an old amp/receiver (STR-DH100) and use the 1/4” headphone jack. The amp then plugs into my computer. So my question is... What should I be looking at? I’m around the $200 price range but have wiggle room. I want a removable cable, open back, and comfort is important. I have ATH-m40’s and they kill my ears after long gaming seasons. So far the 6XX and 58X Jubilee look appealing. Also seen some people recommend the Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO Studio (but it lacks a removable cable) as well as the AKG 7XX. Any input would be incredibly helpful. Thanks in...

Any suggestions for wireless headsets to be worn during exercise that won't fall off
I am looking for wireless headphones with a microphone to be worn in the gym. My ears have an atypical inner ear structure and thus none of the so called IEMs that are 'guaranteed not to fall' work for me. I am looking at preferably bluetooth 5, a hook like design that keeps the buds in place and a microphone that will allow me to answer calls while I am working out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Budget is around USD 100.

Cheap, budget DAC for the Massdrop x HIFIMAN HE4XX?
As the FX Audio DAC(+amp) X6 sold out, it was well within my budget. Is the O2 AMP + SDAC DAC/AMP better than no DAC for $150? Also what are more budget DAC/AMP combos like this one, and more only-DAC combos like this one. (Cheaper)

Recessed 2 pin connectors
[image] As many of you are probably aware of, the 2 pin sockets on the KZ IEMs are different than those on the TFZ IEMs 🙄. The KZs are smaller and rounded, and the TFZ cables do fit on the KZs, but not great (not the vice versa). I’ve read that the recessed 2 pin cables by 3rd party makers, such as the Tripowin C8, fit the KZs. My question is, do any of you know of any recessed 2 pin cables that fit the TFZs? Or do I just need to use regular 2 pin cables, and let the connection remain exposed?
