Did my THX 789 amp break?

more_vert
Last year I bought the THX 789 amp and I loved it. It drove all my headphones well (I hated it with the Elex but loved it with everything else), but all of a sudden every time I would adjust the volume, my headphones would clip. I freaked out and shelved the amp and bought a Schiit Magnius to allow me to still use my balanced headphones for the time being. For context, I do enjoy the Magnius (loved it with the Elex) but it was noticeably less impressive than the 789 with most of my headphones. Has everyone else experienced this? If so what do I do? I don't want to take it apart to fix it if possible.

Hello out of context and unrelated post, but just trying some luck with you if you ever response. I have the THX 789 but do not have the Schiit Modius. How does the Modius sounded and how is the sound signature and performance together with 789+Modius ? Just so you know, massdrop THX 789 is poorly design, it has many issue and most people do not have the problem. I doubt its user inducer but you can tell the overall quality and design of the amplifier is poor eventhough aesthetically simply and attractive. Mine previously, broke, white LED unable to turn to red, power button has issues here and there. The fact that you mentioned you have volume clipping issue is something that am not surprised even though I do not experience the same issue as you did.
