Highest Priced DROP Items?

more_vert
Hi. New here. We're an old-line manufacturer of high-end audio (pro, mostly). Moving into the high-end consumer audio world. In y'all's opinion, what is the maximum price appropriate for a product offered on DROP? Our first consumer product will retail for around $7k. Are we out of the DROP ballpark? Tks.

That would be the most expensive item Ive ever seen on drop. Over 3x’s more than most high end items sold here. 2k is high end on drop for a single item, give or take. Avg price ranges are 200-300 for headphones dac or amp. Sennheisers for 1,800 is the most common high-end headphone found on drop. There will be some more niche brands in the 2500 range from time to time. I havent seen much higher than that over the last 4-5 years.

I’ll share your question with DROP employees and see if data supports what I believe would be a new price tier for DROP.

It would be too much for me. I have a Burson conductor headphone/preamp and Dac, Glow one Tube Amp [5w SET class A]and polywell computer running windows 10 and Intel graphics 630 with J Rivers and some AR-15 92 db efficient with a 40hz-30Khz range speakers and a pair Drop Hifiman 4xx headphones. The sound rivals my main system in my small office (about100sqft). Total cost $3850 , You would have a tough time convincing me to spend a penny more. Right now listening to Los Lobos, I am finding it hard to resist picking up my air guitar and joining in {;-)>

At $7k - I would think most would complain or pass.

I think it depends on what it is. Unfortunately, Drop is directed toward the desktop enthusiast/audiophile. I would love to see a set of real speakers or stereo components come in at a real value, even in the 7k range.
