The right Dac/amp for Sennheiser 560s/6xx and Hifiman Sundara

more_vert
Ok.. If this works, I'll just need a dac/amp for the above headphones and all I need is an optical IN on the dac to hook up to my optical out from my TV. And an optical OUT to go to my optical IN to my a/v receiver. In my head, I'll be able to use these headphones with enough power to listen to music, movies, and console games which are all hooked up to my HDMI arc inputs of my TV. If this makes any sense, could someone recommend a dac/amp that has these features that produces a minimum of 192khz/32bit with enough power to drive both the Sundara's (37ohms, low sensitivity) and the Sennheiser 560's (120-150ohms) and possibly the 6xx (300-333ohms) ? A remote control is preferred unless I'll be able to control the volume from my a/v receiver... If this will work. It'll work, right?

I have the HD560S's and use the Aune X1S GT dac/amp combo and it sounds amazing. I also have the Letshuoer S12 Planar Magnetic IEM's and they sound even better with that dac/amp. I'd suggest connecting the dac/amp to your A/V receiver using a rca cable, that way you bypass the built-in dac inside your receiver. The X1S GT has quite a few inputs including optical, coax, and rca (analog), and USB 2.0, there's even a version that has bluetooth 5.x with aptX-HD and some other high definition bluetooth codecs. It also has plenty of power, more than 1 watt@32 ohms but it does not have a remote control. The analog outputs are fixed and do not control the volume, the volume nob only controls the headphones (which have both 6.5 mm single-ended and 4.4 mm balanced jacks on the front). The dac supports up to 32-bit 384 KHz PCM and a few DSD formats natively but does not support MQA unfolding on the device. There are quite a few reviews on YouTube for that dac/amp combo. Hope this helps.

It's perfectly safe to hook up a DAC to your receiver, it's why most desktop DAC's have rca and/or XLR outputs. It's honestly no different than hooking up a CD player using rca cables.

CFarrell74thanks. remind me again why people do that? It would be optical out from TV to my DX3 Pro+ to my CD Input on my receiver.. but. I have HDMI (PS5, Netflix, Amazon, etc) hooked up to my receiver now. Just curious.
