Keycaps to help people with low vision

more_vert
A tremendous number of Keycaps use different colors to highlight keys used in game playing. However, there are very few (one?) that help people with vision lost. Specifically, I would like a keycap set that has a different highlight color for the "F" and "J" key. I would like the rest of the keys to be either one color or, preferably, one color except for the usual highlight keys (ie, F4,F5, F6, Enter, Esc, etc.) Definitely not "ASDW," which has no non-gaming use, to my knowledge. I don't care much about what colors are used, but prefer darker colors like the Garnet keycap set. I have no vision in my left eye and only about 40% in my right eye. I frequently find myself putting my hands in the wrong place due to lack of visual clues. I know about keysets that use bars or deeper cups on the "F" and "J" keys, but they do not help me because I have scarring on those fingers. Can anyone help me obtain such a set? Thank you, David

don't know if this will help you any, but I still have about 4 or 5 boxes of different color sets of Rubber keycaps with slight texture on top of them so not only work great for gaming but I actually ended up putting a full set of "Tai-Hao" alpha keycaps on the keyboard in my workshop, and not only is it easier to see what key you're pressing since the legends are all compatible with LED backlit PCBS...so you can change each key a certain color that is easier for you to see, or....since they make these keycaps in many different colors I personally made my home key row all one color of these rubber keycaps..and then used a different color for the other rows of alpha keys. So basically you can put all of one color keycaps on your keyboard and use the LED colors to make it where the legends on each key can be easily seen since they are very good at keeping LED light backlit light pollution down to where it doesn't bleed around the entire keyboard but just illuminates the large legends that these rubber keycaps use which are easy to read for my Dad as well to a minimum so all you see when you look down is whatever color of light you see the best AND a choose whatever LED backlit color that contrasts well with whatever color of these rubber keycaps you choose to use for the whole board....or even use just white backlit LED color for all of your Alpha keys and they are much easier to read or notice especially with the all black keycap set. Or mix and match by putting your number row one color, then the next row (Q-P) as all the same color, but different color than your number row. Then obviously the (A-L) row it's own separate color etc.....and then if you still have trouble seeing the legends you can just change the color of the LED light that illuminates under each keycap but these keycaps are made to where no light bleeds through the keycap except the translucent legends. I apologize for my absolute horrible explanation of this....I'm not in front of it now but I can find some pics on my phone and show you what I mean. (My father is in his late 70's and he loved when I swapped out his old stock keycaps with all black rubber alpha keycaps since they are much easier for him to type on, and he absolutely hates RGB backlit lights on a keyboard except for these since at night he can turn lights off around his desk and not get blinded when he looks down at his keyboard as it's just the legends of each keycap illuminated to a warmer "daylight" looking backlit color for him instead of a shade of white that's so bright it looks blue. And he can change the color of the legends by just pressing FN+1, FN+2, etc for solid colors. Or just press one button that turns off all the backlights since especially on the black Tai-hao rubber keycaps it's actually just as easy for him to read them in the daytime without any backlit LEDS on.(I also have several different brand new in the box packs of these same rubber keycaps in about 5 different colors, but these specifically don't have any legend on them so they are just the same thing as the others but great for using for like an escape key or a macropad where you don't necessarily have to have something labeling a key. And then last but not least I finally found my dad a fun set that came with a full set of both the alpha keys (and number row) as well as rubber modifier keys with translucent legends on the modifiers so his keyboard has grey rubber modifiers and black rubber alpha keys. Here are a few pics for right now so you can kind of get the rough idea of what I'm referring to, obviously I'm sure you probably don't want bright pink of yellow but that was just a pic that had all the alpha keys on a keyboard, but once I get home I can out some pics of what It looks like with black and grey rubber keycaps...then you can make the color of the legend show up as any color you want for certain keys or whatever you wanted...or you can also put whatever keys you wanted to stand out or be more noticeable to you as a separate color of rubber keycap and mix and match them however you want. (These are like stock photos so they don't really show how well they show up compared to other keycaps until I get home to take some pics)

PhlookeSorry if that was a big jumble of words, it kept deleting everything I was typing and I'd start over again...but I was saying I have at least 5 different colors of full sets and then I had to hunt around years and found a few sets with the rubber spacebar included with the rest of the keycaps...but they've just been sitting in a box unopened for at least 4 years so you're welcome to them as I have far too many keycap sets/switches and a plethora of random custom keyboard parts from my competitive counter-strike gaming days, to my more "grown up" keycap stage these days with GMK Modern Dolch / MoDo 2 😂. Especially since when I looked up those photos I saw some were selling for $75 for not even the full alpha set. And I bought all of mine pre-pandemic so they were significantly cheaper at that time and the quality on these are great where they are surprisingly comfortable to type on since they are like little shock absorbers with grip and the legends are much more legible/larger/clear compared to the average set of backlit keycaps.
