We’re beyond excited to announce our first collaboration with the boutique IEM brand Campfire Audio. It’s a partnership several years in the making—and now, the Drop + Campfire Audio IEMs are just weeks away from launch.
This collaboration has been several years in the making. Drop/Massdrop has worked with a number of IEM companies over the years bringing a variety of IEM collaborations to our Audiophile community. Campfire Audio has been in the IEM game for many years now, often setting high marks for their flashy designs and great sounding line of IEMs. Although both teams had been interested in working together for a long time it was only recently that the stars aligned to where we were able to make something happen.

The idea for our first product came from Campfire Audio founder Ken Ball, who proposed taking the brand’s limited-run Black Star IEM and revamping it with their never-before-seen bio-film membrane bass driver into a newly tuned, competitively priced IEM. We’re calling it the Dark Star.
See Ken’s description below:
"I am happy to report that the sample "Dark Star" is a more evolved version of our popular Black Star IEM. It made sense to extend this new tech to you instead of us re releasing something that uses the same engineering architecture as the Black Star. So, to clarify, the "Dark Star" uses the same Black Star acoustic systems, 3D models for front end, back-end acoustic loads, the same Sonion mid balanced armature driver, and the same dual Knowles SWFK balanced armature high-end driver. However, it uses a new, more advanced bio film 10-millimeter dual magnet dynamic driver that I absolutely love. We will be using this 10-millimeter driver in a lot of new models moving forward. But I am happy to say this is the first offering using this new tech. So the bottom line is that while the Dark Star is using the same Black Star bones, it is somewhat different. The frequency response is similar to the Black Star but the Dark Star tuning—coupled with the new dynamic driver—is greatly improved."
We are pleased to be able to bring this limited run IEM back with an all new bass driver at a more accessible price than ever before.
Stay tuned for more information on the Drop + Campfire Audio Dark Star IEM, and be sure to hit “Request” to be notified as soon as it launches.
Mike_WIDrop has sold and currently sell campfire audio products. The collabs are when they offer a Drop / whoever version in this case (Drop/Campfire audio) headphone or IEM. They usually have altered tunings and are offered at a lower price than if they were from the the manufacturer alone. One of the most popular collabs on Drop being the Sennheiser / Drop 6xx Based upon the popular Sennheiser 650hd. As an example.
I currently am rocking the beyerdynamic DT 990 Pros and have been for a while now, along with a go xlr! I was trying to see what other headset you guys recommend along with something to replace the xlr? Thank you!
I just got my pc38x in the mail today and the out put is quiet but fine and I'm happy. But the mic will not work when on my Xbox series and I was wondering if this issue can be resolved or if the head set is not compatible with Xbox.
Suspension strap for comfort, real carbon fiber cups for lighter weight and slightly more open sound, bottom color accents. I make all the parts to make these, check it out on my Etsy store.
I ordered the Dekoni Cobalt for $179 and the price dropped to $159 before they even arrived. Some retailers do price match reimbursements if an item goes on sale within a certain time frame after purchase. Does Drop do that?
