I have to agree that the shipping cost has stopped me joining numerous drops I would liked to have been part of. That being said the cost saving idea behind Massdrop is related to the item itself not the total price of item + shipping. The vast majority of the drops offered by Massdrop are for items that more than likely will never be offered by Aus retailers or even Aus based online stores. Shipping individual items to Aus will always be expensive, a more cost effective way to do it is to use a mail forwarding company like Myus or Shipito or Stackry etc

Because it's, like, way far away from everywhere else? Sorry... I understand that, otherwise, it's a terrific place with friendly peeps, good beer and many unique natural wonders. If it just didn't take so darn much fuel and time to get there.

The 5 items I have purchased so far, I thought were pretty reasonable for shipping to AUS.
But then I wanted to buy a $31 knife and that was $21 for delivery, for a tiny little knife! SO go figure?

Distance, aviation fuel costs, employer costs, horrible accent except for the women of course. Suggest starting up an Aussie version: MASSDROPMATE!
